W. NR. 1.2162

Characteristics

Manganese-chrome steel for case-hardening with the middle hardenability, with the hardness of case-hardened layer and with the high hardness in the core. Further the steel is characterized by a good ductility at the heat, good workability in the annealed state and it is easy to polish.

Suitability

For small and middle-size cemented molds for mechanical working of plastic materials and rubber with the demand on higher hardness in the core.

Heat treatment of steel W.Nr. 1.2162

WayTemperature [°C]Procedure
Forging800-1100Cool slowly in calm air or better e.g. in dry ash or other thermally-insulated material
Normalization850-880Cool in air
Soft annealing670-710Warm few hours (according to the size of object), mostly four hours are enough and cool slowly in the furnace
Annealing to lower tension600-680Annealing to lower tension
Case-hardeningin powder840-870Cool slowly in carburizing case or harden the simple tools in oil directly from the carburizing temperature
in gas900-950Harden with the cooling from the carburizing temperature in oil
in salt bath890-930Harden directly from the carburizing temperature in oil
Process annealing630-650Cool in air, fragile tools cool slowly
Hardening810-840In oil or bath at 180-220 °C
Tempering150-200Cool in air or water, the degree of tempering is set by hardness and toughness of instrument according to the tempering chart

Note

  • Process annealing is not always necessary until the components are equal or mechanided. During the process annealing in the chamber furnace it is unconditionally necessary to get rid of the components case-hardened in the bath of cyanide rests.
  • At molds, by which the emphasis is not put on deformations after hardening and the highest toughness of core is required, you can use two hardenings. First hardening at the temperature of 840-870 degrees Celsius, second hardening at the temperature of 810-830 degrees Celsius, cooling in oil or hot bath.

Tool steel meets the requirements of various kinds of tools, e.g. for machining, hot- and cold-working, measuring instruments and die-casting moulds. We also offer high-speed steel.

Tool steel meets the requirements of various kinds of tools, e.g. for machining, hot- and cold-working, measuring instruments and die-casting moulds. These tool materials conform to great quality demands of steel, like temper, strength, toughness, resistance to tempering, hardening capacity, dimensional stability, etc. The range of tool steel in our store includes products from renowned manufacturers. We also supply high - speed steel.

Special tool steel is suitable for the manufacture of moulds, dies and pressing tools. This steel have better end-use properties than common classic steel, therefore it can help saving considerable amounts of money in manufacture.

This patented Swedish steel is distinguished by its high range of use. It is suitable for the manufacture of tools and moulds as well as machinery parts. This material can replace many kinds of classic tool and structural steelbest watch replica.

We supply these grades of steel: St52.3, C45, 16MnCr5, 42CrMo4
