Characteristics
W. Nr. 1.6580 is an alloy steel with high hardenability, designed for highly stressed machine components. It is characterized by high toughness combined with high strength and excellent resistance to temper embrittlement. The steel also offers outstanding resistance to cyclic loading and impact. It is supplied in the quenched and tempered condition with a hardness of 280–320 HB. The steel is not suitable for welding.
Suitability
Highly loaded components for the automotive industry and mechanical engineering. Typical applications include highly stressed shafts, crankshafts, axles, gears and fastening components.
