Characteristics
W. Nr. 1.7707 is an alloy steel for quenching and tepering, suitable for surface hardening and nitriding (surface hardness after nitriding up to 800 HV). The steel has limited weldability. It is supplied in the quenched and tempered codition with hardness 268 - 330 HB.
Suitability
Machine components with high toughness for use in the automotive and aerospace industries, such as highly stressed crankshafts, pins, and bolts. Structural parts of medium and large cross-sections requiring high surface hardness. Also suitable for the production of valves and fittings.
